Sin la necesidad de liarnos como una persiana en la intro de esta nueva entrevista, sí que os podemos decir que nos ha contado cómo fue el proceso de creación del nuevo disco desde distintas perspectivas, las sensaciones vividas en trayectos largos y la gratitud hacia el apoyo desinteresado de muchas personas con las que se ha rodeado MONOLORD. Y ahí lo dejamos…

Por lo que hemos leído, con éste nuevo disco os hacéis un hueco en el gran listado de bandas que existen bajo el techo del reconocido sello, Relapse Records. ¿Qué pensáis que os dará y qué pensáis que necesitáis para empezar este nuevo camino en conjunto?
- MIKA: Bueno, definitivamente es genial estar atendidos por personas tan profesionales. El hecho de que sean un sello desde hace tanto tiempo y que tengan oficinas tanto en los EE. UU. como en Europa, seguramente nos hará más visibles en las tiendas de discos. El sello es más cercano (muy personal) de lo que estamos acostumbrados, lo que, por supuesto, también hace que el proceso sea más efectivo para nosotros.

¿Qué ha supuesto para vosotros la creación de “No Comfort”?
- MIKA: Realmente no dejamos de crear en ningún momento, por lo que es un proceso continuo que sigue funcionando todo el tiempo. Pero como proceso de grabación, fue diferente de lo que hemos hecho antes. Seguramente significaba que teníamos que concentrarnos como banda en finalizar y ensayar las canciones todas juntas, más intensamente.

En palabras de Relapse Records, MONOLORD con este nuevo disco, ‘ha canalizado los elementos más emocionantes de géneros […] para producir uno de los álbumes más apasionantes y fuertes del año’. ¿Qué pensáis vosotros de todos esto?
- MIKA: Es sorprendente, tener detrás de ti y de esta manera, el apoyo del sello. El proceso de grabación siempre nos ciega bastante, por lo que al final es difícil verlo desde arriba. Pero ciertamente siento que este es nuestro material más fuerte hasta ahora.

Situaros en el momento tras un trabajo de composiciones, grabaciones, etc… y después de todo esto, os encontráis delante de un listado de canciones completas y listas para escucharlas como lo haría un oyente cuando obtiene el material físico y se prepara para darle al play… ¿Qué sensaciones tenéis tras escuchar por primera vez y del tirón, “No Comfort”?
- MIKA: Después de nuestro proceso de grabación, mezcla y masterización, parece casi imposible responder. Hemos escuchado las canciones tantas veces y en tantas versiones... Pero los oyentes seguramente se quedarán con una sensación de melancolía después de escuchar el álbum. Las canciones son bastante emotivas y pesadas. Pero al mismo tiempo, espero que sea una sensación de alivio. Un lanzamiento de algún tipo (de algún modo, de algo especifico).


Con cada trabajo realizado habéis ganado más oyentes, una evolución constante y un gran recibimiento fantástico en los conciertos y festivales donde MONOLORD ha asistido a lo largo de su trayectoria. ¿Cómo es la experiencia de “tragar” con un aluvión de cambios tan significativos?
- MIKA: Ha sido increíble ser recibido por tantos fanáticos y poder tocar en estos grandes festivales. Todo creció bastante rápido para nosotros desde el principio. A la vez, ha sido un sueño para los tres, desde que comenzamos a tocar un instrumento a una edad temprana. Por lo tanto, ha sido divertido poder desarrollar nuestro espectáculo en los diferentes lugares donde hemos tocamos.

Para finales de esta semana estaréis en São Paulo (Brasil) en el Setembro Negro Festival (6-7-8 de septiembre). ¡Vaya cartel! No sé si esta pregunta la contestaréis antes o después de participar en el festival (sábado 07), pero sea la respuesta que sea, nos gustaría conocer vuestras sensaciones al tocar en un sitio así, tan lejos de casa y con un cartel tan grande. Y si da la casualidad que ya habéis tocado, pues será estupendo conocer cómo fue el concierto.
- MIKA: Sí, fue un viaje bastante loco a Brasil. Una sensación un poco loca por viajar tan lejos para un espectáculo y luego volver a casa al día siguiente. ¡Pero tanto el festival como la audiencia fueron increíbles! Realmente hicieron que todo valiera la pena. Realmente no sabíamos qué esperar, ya que nunca antes habíamos estado en Sudamérica. Y fue divertido tocar el mismo día que mi antigua banda Rotten Sound. Ese fue realmente un giro inesperado de los acontecimientos.

El 20 de septiembre sale a la luz “No Comfort”, y como ya se sabe habéis anunciado una extensa gira por Europa y Estados Unidos. ¿Cómo están los motores para recorrer y vivir todo lo que conlleva una gira de estas dimensiones?
- MIKA: Hemos tenido la suerte de trabajar con grandes personas en las giras anteriores y seguiremos trabajando con muchos de ellos. Todos los recorridos que hemos realizado en el pasado seguramente nos han preparado para los dos meses que pasaremos en el camino. Pero, sin embargo, siempre será un desafío en sí mismo. Dicho esto, siempre nos cuidamos unos a otros, por lo que podemos centrarnos en lo principal; ¡entregando un camión cargado de Fuzz y TODOS los decibelios a nuestros fans!

Última pregunta… Dejando de lado vuestros discos publicados, los conciertos, las giras, las grabaciones, todo. ¿Cuáles son los pilares fundamentales de MONOLORD?
- MIKA: Un creciente montón de café y las guitarras de respaldo siempre alimentadas en nuestro espacio de ensayo. Cuando no sabes si estás temblando por tu sexta taza de café o por las guitarras ruidosas y afinadas… Ese sentimiento es donde comenzamos y ese sentimiento es donde todavía estamos.

Ya hemos finalizado la entrevista. Esperamos que el lanzamiento del nuevo álbum vaya bien, que el público asista a los conciertos para disfrutar de vuestro sonido y que todos los conciertos futuros que están por llegar sean grandes, dejando a un lado el tamaño del escenario. Without the need to get to a long writting in the intro of this new interview, we can tell you that they have told us how was the process of creating the new album from different perspectives, the sensations lived on long journeys and gratitude towards selfless support of many people. And there we leave it ... MONOLORD is here

From what we have read, with this new album you make a place in the great list of bands that exist under the roof of the renowned label, Relapse Records. What do you think it will give you and what do you think you need to start this new road together? - MIKA: Well it’s definitely great being taken care of such professional people. The fact that they have been a label for so long and have offices both in the U.S. and Europe, will for sure make us more visible in the record shops. The label has more personnel working with us, than we’re used to, which of course makes the process more effective for us too.

What has the creation of "No Comfort" meant for you?
-MIKA: We don’t really stop creating at any point, so it is an on going process that keeps on rolling all the time. But as a recording process, it was different from what we’ve done before. It for sure meant that we had to focus on the finishing of the songs and rehearsal of the songs together as a band, more intensely.

In the words of Relapse Records, MONOLORD with this new album, ‘has channeled the most exciting genre elements […] to produce one of the most exciting and strong albums of the year’. What do you think of all this?
- MIKA: It’s amazing to have the support of the label behind you like this. We always get quite blinded by the recording process at some point, so it’s maybe hard to see it from above in the end. But I certainly feel that this is our strongest material so far.

Place yourself at the moment after all a work of compositions, recordings, etc ... and after all this, you are in front of a list of complete songs and ready to listen to them as a listener would do when he obtains the physical material and prepares... and "Play"... What feelings do you have after hearing for the first time and the pull, "No Comfort"?
- MIKA: After our recording, mixing and mastering process, it feels almost impossible to answer. We’ve heard the songs in so many versions and so many times. But listeners will for sure be left with a sense of melancholy after hearing the album. The songs are quite emotional and heavy. But at the same time I hope it’s a sense of relief. A release of some sort.



With each work done you have gained more listeners, a constant evolution and a great fantastic reception at concerts and festivals where MONOLORD has attended throughout its trajectory. How is the experience of "carrying on the shoulders and especially mentally" with a barrage of changes so significant?
- MIKA: It’s been amazing to be received by so many fans and to be able to play on these great festivals. Everything grew pretty fast for us from the start. At the same time it has been a dream to all three of us, since we started playing an instrument at a young age. So it has been fun to be able to develop our show to the different venues we get to play.

This week you will be in São Paulo (Brazil) at the Setembro Negro Festival (September 6-7-8). Great poster! I do not know if you will answer this question before or after participating in the festival (Saturday 07), but whatever the answer is, we would like to know your feelings when playing in such a place, so far from home. And if it happens that you have already played, it will be great to know how the concert was.
- MIKA: Yeah it was pretty insane trip to Brazil. Kinda crazy feeling to travel so far for one show and then back home the day after. But both the festival and the audience was awesome! They really made everything worth while. We didn’t really know what to expect, since we’ve never been to South America before. And it was fun to play on the same day as my old band Rotten Sound. That was really an unexpected turn of events.

On September 20 “No Comfort” ... Us know you have announced an extensive tour of Europe and the United States. Is ok the engines for the travel and live everything that involves a tour of this dimensions?
- MIKA: We’ve had the good fortune of working with great people on the past tours, and will continue to work with many of them. All the tours we’ve done in the past have for sure prepared us for the two months we’re going to be spending on the road. But nevertheless, it always will be a challenge of it’s own. That being said, we always take care of each other, so we can focus on the main thing; delivering a truckload of fuzz and ALL the decibels to our fans!

Last question ... Leaving aside your published albums, concerts, tours, recordings, everything. What are the fundamental pillars of MONOLORD?
- MIKA: The on growing pile of coffee and the always feed backing guitars at our rehearsal space. When you don’t know whether you’re shaking because of your sixth cup of coffee or the loud fuzzed up, low-tuned guitars. That feeling is where we started and that feeling is where we still are.
