Una banda que disfrutas, un sonido que descubres, un disco que te engancha. Desde Francia y con mucha voluntad propia de hacer un trabajo bien sacrificado y perfecto, nos lleva al terreno musical de una agrupación que no te dejará indiferente. Es más, te volverás un poco desquiciado. Canción por canción. No queremos alargar la presentación, deseamos que vivas cada una de las palabras que encontrarás más abajo… hemos tenido una charla con LOS DISIDENTES DEL SUCIO MOTEL.

Como siempre, y para empezar, nos gustaría agradecer el tiempo que habéis dedicado en contestar estas preguntas. La esencia de una banda se basa en muchos puntos que podemos conocer o desconocer. Habladnos un poco de cada uno de vosotros. De tras de cada sonido, voz, riffs, canción, hay una persona y su historia. Literatura, arte, cine, series, viajar, etc. ¿En qué os inspiráis para trabajar, qué es lo que os llena y os hace seguir hacia adelante...?
(Nicolas - Guitar/Vocal): ¡Gracias a ti, Tania! Es un verdadero placer hablar con el público español. Si tuviera que responder al completo tu pregunta creo que me llevaría muchas horas. :) Para ser serios, hay tantas cosas que nos inspiran, pero con respecto a éste nuevo álbum, ambos estábamos inspirados por nuestro propio mundo y todas las noticias locas que se pueden ver o escuchar. Y también por el cine y la literatura. Julien, el bajista, ha leído muchos libros sobre el concepto del "colapso humano", un verdadero estudio sociológico, antes de la composición del álbum y fue él quien propuso el tema general. Encontramos esta idea muy interesante y cada uno de nosotros vio varias películas sobre este tema como "El libro de Eli" o "El camino", ese tipo de películas post apocalípticas de carretera. Una vez que habíamos identificado este universo, escribimos una historia sobre un personaje ficticio, un hombre desconocido con el que podríamos identificarnos fácilmente. A través de su ejemplo, pudimos abordar muchos temas relacionados con las crisis que atravesamos, pero desde un ángulo más narrativo, una perspectiva que nos correspondía de forma más adecuada. Hablamos del desempleo, de la violencia de nuestra sociedad actual y de todas sus derivaciones…, de la religión, de la familia, de la vida, de la muerte, del amor... ¡Es una historia larga!

Dentro de unos días estaréis en uno de los festivales más conocidos; HellFest. ¿Qué sensaciones se crean al imaginar tanta gente escuchando tu música en un sitio tan grande? ¿Prefieres festivales o salas pequeñas?
- Para ser honesto contigo, ¡Estoy que no me lo creo, no me dio cuenta de ello! Quedan pocos días, ¡pero en mi cabeza todavía está muy lejos! :) Es un honor para nosotros ser parte de este increíble festival. Todos somos grandes fans del Metal y de todos sus derivados, que el nombre de nuestra banda esté en el mismo cartel con bandas como Deep Purple, o Prophets of Rage o Slayer, es fantástico. El Hellfest es la meca del rock y el metal en Francia. Es casi una peregrinación para algunos. Vamos a tocar ante nuestros hermanos y hermanas de esta hermosa comunidad y esperamos hacerles honor y darles placer y diversión. Me gustan tanto los festivales como los clubes. El sentimiento y la sensación son diferentes, pero me gustan ambos. La presión es claramente mayor en un festival debido a la masiva multitud, pero es nuestro trabajo hacer de esta presión ¡una fortaleza!

Vuestro último disco desprende una energía que nunca se desvanece. Es asfixiante, es arrolladora y podríamos decir que las canciones que componen ‘Human Collapse’ van directas a la yugular, haciendo que nuestros tormentos se desangren hacia infinitos destinos. Con una única palabra nos gustaría que nos definierais el disco, y el porqué.
- ¿Una palabra? Wow eso es difícil… Tal vez "intensidad". Porque puedes sentir la intensidad positiva y negativa del mismo disco.

Cuando el nombre de una banda se nos hace curioso, no podemos mordernos durante demasiado tiempo la lengua y tenemos que preguntarlo: ¿De dónde sale el nombre? ¿Qué motivo tiene?
- ¡Haha, esa es la pregunta clásica! Pero me puedo imaginar, que para una persona española es un poco diferente :). ¡El hecho es que ninguno de nosotros habla español! Durante la creación de la banda, queríamos un nombre que hiciera referencia a la cultura Sudamericana. Puedes conocer todos estos clichés que todos amamos; el motel, ‘los desperados’, el desierto y los ‘muscle cars’, todo lo que puedes ver en una buena película de Tarantino o Rodríguez. Así que la madre de Julien nos llamó "los disidentes" porque teníamos otras bandas en este momento y al final fundamos este apellido bastante divertido. ¡Entonces pusimos todas estas ideas en una gran lluvia de ideas y nació Los Disidentes Del Sucio Motel!

Una pregunta sencilla. De todos los temas que compone ‘Human Collapse’ ¿Cuál sería tu preferido? ¿Y por qué motivo lo escoges?
- A pesar de la dramática atmósfera del álbum y como da para pensar en todas las vibraciones positivas en él... Todo no es completamente negro en este tipo de situación. Sí, tienes violencia, muerte y miseria, pero como a menudo en grandes crisis, todavía puedes encontrar amor. Porque el amor es más grande que todo. Por ejemplo, la canción "Community" habla de un grupo de personas, viviendo en total autosuficiencia que deciden dar la bienvenida y ayudar a nuestro héroe. Los sociólogos hablan de estos agrupamientos en comunidad en caso de apocalipsis. Algunos están compuestos por personas malvadas que tratarán de sobrevivir sólo a través del saqueo de otras, pero otras están hechas de gente buena y organizada que están renovando completamente un nuevo sistema, una nueva forma de convivir. Me gusta esta idea.

- La canción "Rebirth" es otro ejemplo. Después de haber sido golpeado hasta la muerte, el héroe se despierta en un lugar totalmente desconocido. Él entiende que el tiempo ha pasado y que alguien tuvo que cuidar de él. Paso a paso, se enamora de este extraño, porque ella es la prueba de que la especie humana sigue siendo capaz de cosas buenas.

Vuestra gira europea sigue activa y ya habéis tachado de la lista la gran mayoría de las fechas, ahora os queda la recta final y un posible tour español. ¿Cómo ha estado el camino recorrido, cómo os ha recibido el público?
- ¡Eso fue genial! Estamos muy contentos con la retroalimentación de la gente durante y después de los conciertos. Muchos vinieron a decirnos que habían visto el mejor LDDSM en vivo, en esta gira. Hemos trabajado duro y ahora tenemos nuestro propio equipo de sonido y luz y el vídeo que acompaña en el directo permite al público sumergirse totalmente en la historia. A veces, podemos tener suficiente tiempo para reproducir el álbum en su totalidad y eso es lo que yo prefiero, porque la experiencia está completa y el mensaje que queríamos dar es total. Este álbum es un todo, una historia, música, vídeos. Creo que la gente apreció el hecho de que no pusimos a un lado nuestra energía en directo en favor de un espectáculo demasiado en acceso con el vídeo y que la esencia del grupo sigue ahí. La experiencia va más allá.

Esta pregunta es obligatoria para todas las bandas que entrevistamos. Mirando a un futuro, ¿Qué crees que le deparará a la agrupación?
- Tenemos muchas cosas en ebullición. Primero tenemos que grabar 2 covers: Una de Massive Attack y una de Pink Floyd. Entonces, durante mucho tiempo estuvimos pensando en grabar algo en acústico ya que hemos estado ensayando desde la creación del grupo y cuando volvemos a él, son momentos muy positivos. Tal vez un EP, ¿quizás más? Ya veremos. Luego tendremos que volver a la composición del sucesor de “Human Collapse”. Es un proceso largo. Se encontrará un nuevo ángulo de trabajo, nuevas ideas. Y, por último, siempre seguir viajando. Nos encantaría ir a tocar a los EE.UU. el próximo año. Veremos si esto es posible gracias a nuestro sello Ripple Music. ¡Cruzamos los dedos!

A band that you enjoy, a record that engages you. From France and with a lot of willingness to do well-sacrificed and perfect work, it takes us to the musical field of a group that does not leave you indifferent. You become a little crazy. Song by song. We do not want to extend the presentation, we want you to live each one of the words you find below... Yes, reader. You. We had a talk with LOS DISIDENTES DEL SUCIO MOTEL.

As always, and to begin, we would like to thank you for the time you have use in answering these questions. The essence of a band is based on many points that we can know or ignore. Tell us about each one of you. From behind every sound, voice, riffs, song, there is a person and their story. Literature, art, cinema, series, traveling, etc. What inspires you to work, what is what fills you and makes you move forward...?
(Nicolas - Guitar/Vocal): Thanx to you Tania! It’s a real pleasure to talk to the spanish people. To answer completly to your question, I think it would take hours . To be serious, there are so many things that inspire us, but concerning this new album, we were both inspired by our world and all the crazy news that you can see or hear and by cinema and literature. Julien the bass player readed a lot of books about the concept of the “human collapse” wich is a real sociologic study before the compisition of the album and that’s him who proposed the general theme. We found this idea very interesting and each one of us watched several movies about this topic like “The book of Eli” or “The road”, that kind of post apocalyptic road movies. Once we had identified this universe, we wrote a story about a fictional character, a nobody man we all know and could easily identify with. Through his example, we were able to tackle many subjects related to the crises we are going through, but from a more narrative angle that corresponded better to us. We talk about unemployment, the violence of our present society and all its drifts, religion, family, life, death, love… It’s a long story!

In a few days you will be at one of the best known festivals; HellFest. What sensations are created by imagining so many people listening to your music in such a big place? Do you prefer festivals or small concerts?
- To be honest with you, for now I really don’t realise! It’s in one week, but in my head it’s still very far away!  It’s such an honor for us to be a part of this amazing festival. We are all big fans of Metal and all its derivates, that seing our band’s name in the same poster as Deep Purple, or Prophets of Rage or Slayer, it’s fantastic. The Hellfest is the Mecca of Rock and Metal in France. It is almost a pilgrimage for some. We are going to play before our brothers and sisters of this beautiful community and hope to do them honor and give them pleasure et fun. I like both festival and clubs. The feeling and the sensation are different, but I like them as much. The pressure is clearly biggest on a festival because of the massive crowd, but it is our job to make this pressure strength!

Your last album gives off an energy that never fades. It is suffocating, it is overwhelming and we could say that the songs that make up 'Human Collapse' goes straight to the jugular, causing our torments to bleed to infinite destinies. With a single word we would like us to define the disc, and why.
- One word? Wow that’s hard! Maybe “Intensity”. Because you can feel positive and negative intensity in the same disc.

When the name of a band is curious, we cannot help asking: Where does the name come from? What is the reason?
- Haha, that’s the classical question! But I can imagine, that for a spanish person it’s a Little bit different  The fact is that no one of us can speak spanish! At the creation of the band, we wanted a name that make reference to the south american culture. You know all these clichés we all love, the motel, the desperados, the desert and the muscle cars, all you can see in a good Tarantino or Rodriguez movie. So the mother of Julien called us “the disidents” because we had other bands at this time and we founded this surname pretty fun. Then we put all these ideas in a big brainstorming and Los Disidentes Del Sucio Motel was born!

A simple question. Of all the subjects that make up 'Human Collapse', what would be your favorite? And why do you choose it?
-Despite the very dramatic atmosphere of the album and like to think about all the positive vibes on it. Everything is not completly black in this kind of situation. Yes you have violence, death and misery but as often in big crises, you still can find love. Cause love is bigger than everything. For example, the song “Community” talks about a group of people, living in total self-sufficiency who decide to welcome and help our hero. The sociologists all speak of these groupings in community in case of apocalypse. Some are made up of evil people who will try to survive only through the plunder of others, but others are made of good and organized people who are completely revamping a new system, a new way of living together. I like this idea. The song “Rebirth” is another example. After having being beaten to death, on hero wakes up in a totaly unknow place. He understands than time has passed and that someone had taking care of him. Step by step, he fall in love of this stranger, cause she is the the proof that the human species is still capable of good things.

Your European tour is still active and you have already eliminated of the list most of the dates, now you have the final straight and a possible Spanish tour. How has the road been, how has the audience received you?
- That was really cool! We are very happy with the feedback from people during and after the concerts. Many came to tell us that they had seen the best LDDSM live on this tour. We have worked hard and now have our own sound and light team and the video that accompanies the live permits the audience to totally immerse in the story. Sometimes, we can enough time to play the album in full and that's what I prefer, because the experience is complete and the message we wanted to give is total. This album is a whole, a story, music, videos. I think people appreciated the fact that we did not put aside our live energy in favor of a show too much access on the video and that the essence of the group is still there. The experience goes just further.

This question is always the same for all the bands we interviewed. Looking for a future, what do you think the future of band?
- We have many things on fire. First we have to record 2 cover songs. A cover of Massive Attack and a cover of Pink Floyd. Then we thought for a very long time to record something in acoustics because we have practiced the exercise since the creation of the group and the returns are very positive on it. Maybe an EP, maybe more? We'll see. Then we will have to go back to the composition of the successor of Human Collapse. It's a long process. Find a new angle of work, new ideas. And finally, always keep touring. We would love to come and play the US next year. We will see if this is possible thanks to our label Ripple Music. We cross fingers!
